Ballots Are Coming In The Mail
News

Brothers and Sisters of Division 28,

Members present at the May monthly Division 28 meeting drafted a resolution and subsequently passed a motion to send that resolution to us in the form of a referendum ballot. Soon you will all receive a copy of the resolution with a ballot enclosed. You will notice a line on the ballot for printing your name and a signature line. These are necessary for the validation of each ballot and your ballot will not be counted unless they are filled out completely. While this is not a secret ballot vote, please understand that there will be no record kept of how individuals vote. That is not the reason for signing it. Ballots need to be returned by June 30th, 2010.
With that being said, I expect there will be many differing sentiments and opinions regarding this issue. I would like to take a second and remind everyone that there is a monthly meeting coming up this next week (Thursday June 17th) and this would be a great forum to let your opinions be heard as well as to listen to those of other Division 28 members. I am looking forward to a good turnout and a lively debate.

I hope to see you there.

Fraternally,

Nick Johnson

UP’s CMTS System
News
Brothers and Sisters,

I cannot stress how important it is for each and every one of you to grant your Local Chairman access to your timekeeping information.

Currently these are the screens in UP’s CMTS System I cannot access without you ensuring permission box checked:

1)     Pay History Screen
2)     Time slip Inquiry Screen
3)     Employee Statistics-this includes information about Vacation and PL day qualifications and trip counts.
4)     Guarantee Screen

Obviously I need to have these screens in order to do research for our members. Please let me know via email when you have filled out the permission screen to furnish me access. See my post in the members section for the user id's needed or email me at verna@blet28.org .

This is all information I had access to yesterday but not today. In fact your Local Chairman has had and used this information to serve you for many years.

In Solidarity,

 Vince Verna

New railroad book on Tucson
Information jsmith writes "I have run across an new book called “Tucson was a RailroadTown by William D. Kalt 111.   I have not read the whole book yet, but it looks good. There are a lot of pictures of people that I fired for. It is a whos who of the peoples of the early days. You will recognize some of the family names that still work here today. There are not as many pictures of steam engines as I would like. But it is rich in pictures of people and the stories behind them.  It was published in 2007 by VTD Rail Publishing. ISBN 978-0-9719915-4-5"
